There are a range of conditions that can result in difficulties with sleep quantity or quality. Stress, anxiety, depression and new life circumstances can make it hard to get to sleep or stay asleep. Increasingly, the field of sleep psychology is taking over from certain sleep medications and mood stabilisers, for sleep complaints when patients and their doctors decide that non-drug approaches are appropriate.
